DRESSMAKING, SOFT FURNISHING AND TEXTILES.
We have three activities centred around the use of fabric and sewing.
Soft furnishing is one of the college courses that we offer, facilitated in partnership with Leicester College. The course is for people who want to learn how to produce soft furnishings for the home such as cushions and decorative table mats. The course offers the opportunity to learn how to use sewing machines and practice various techniques of hand sewing and pattern cutting.
The dressmaking session is more informal, presenting our service users the chance to learn, and exercise the same skills, to create and repair clothing, but is not a college course.
The textile session utilizes the same skills and equipment, but pursues more artistic endeavors, allowing participants to create artwork in fabric.
